Government Polytechnic, Ahmedabad has risen as one of the most preferred institute for acquisition of talented students from the Campus. The Placement Cell in the institute has been operational with the dual objectives of providing counselling to the students for their career development and arranging campus placement drives with prestigious industries to provide best opportunities to students.

Placement Team

The College is well equipped with Training and Placement Cell. Prof. U. V. Buch is in-charge of the cell. Prof. M. D. Patel HoD, IT engineering was jointly holding this charge from ( ) till 29/08/2020. TPO is assisted by Prof. T. K. Kandiya for the said activity.

Faculty Coordinators and Students from each department are also involved actively in the placement cell activities like arranging pre-placement orientation sessions, placement activity, database management, etc.

Infrastructure

The TPO cell has 1 conference room and 1 TPO Cabin (for conducting personal interviews) and an auditorium Swami Vivekananda Hall (Room No. 114) with seating capacity of 120 for pre-placement process.

The vision of the Training & Placement Cell, GP Ahmedabad is to benefit the society by bridging the gap between Industry and academia with skilled professional technicians having values of integrity, honesty and nation building.

Mission

The mission of the Training & Placement Cell, GP Ahmedabad is .

  1. To help students achieve their dream professional career (employment / job) in appropriate industry based on acquired skill set.
  2. To increase interaction with the industry and institutions to fill the classroom-industry gap to make them industry /job oriented and ultimately promotion of entrepreneurship in benefit of stakeholders.
  3. To make student think about indigenous product development under “Make in India”.
Training & Placement Activities
  • Placement cell is very keen to increase placements every year and expand industry contacts. Efforts for the same are made by placement cell as well as at faculty level.
  • Placement cell initiates placements by inviting recruiters through invitation email or letter to companies or by communicating over telephone.
  • Faculties from departments also contribute via referring companies/person in their contacts. Placement coordinators do visit company in person and discuss as well as invite companies to hire students from the institute.
  • Department placement coordinators along with respective HOD also make efforts to liaison with industries at their level in addition to the placement cell activities.
  • The students are exposed to the process of placement by conducting mock interviews, group discussion, and aptitude tests etc.

GNFC Gujarat level Job Fair

We have provided support and organised GNFC All Gujarat Diploma Campus at our institute in 2018 and remotely organised 2019 Recruitment as coordinator by our TPO Prof. U.V.Buch- for which GNFC has appreciated organising support to TPO.

Techfest of GTU

We organised State level Techfest under our Coordinator and TPO Prof. U.V.Buch on -6th – 7th April 2018 at our Campus.

MoU with Hyundai Motors (I) Ltd

On 29th December 2017 we signed MoU with Hyundai Motors India ltd. to establish a training facility at the Automobile department of the Institute. We have run 2 batches of 25 students each in 2018 and 2019 and successfully placed / absorbed in dealer Network.

New Initiatives for embedding Professional Skills

The ‘Finishing School Program’ is an initiative launched in March 2017 by the Education Department - Government of Gujarat with an aim to increase the employability quotient of the students. Master Trainers who have a vast experience of the corporate environment impart training to the final year students focusing on Communication - strengthening employability skills like CV writing, Group discussion, Interview skills and professional work culture, presentation skills, email writing, telephonic / Skype interviews, attitudes and behaviour, corporate culture and etiquette. The students are motivated and encourage participating in this module for enhanced employability skills.

Life Skills Program: A 20-25 hours module that focuses on time and stress management, Goal Setting and many more skill sets required in day to day operations is designed for the students & at the end of program the student receives a certificate from the Education Department – Government of Gujarat.

Skill Set Focused: Functional English and communication (Listening, reading, writing, presentation skills) and Life skills (positive attitude, self-esteem, grooming and etiquettes, Interpersonal skills, goal settings, Time and stress management) as soft skill personality development initiative.
